Vall de Pop

A short distance from tourist towns of Gandia, Dénia, Javea, Calpe, Altea and Benidorm, the territory of the Vail de Pop offers to the visitors a haven of peace and tranquillity. A unique place to enjoy the old fashioned pleasures and tranquil moments forgotten in our modern day life.

The municipalities that made up the "Community", make up a territory of real landscape beauty and also high ecological value. From the coastal coves of Benissa to the high peaks of Castell de Castells, we can find valleys and mountains. The river is of high importance in La Vall because of its peaceful summer waters and its violent autumnal floods.

Pine forests, kermes oak and ash trees, yew and strawberry trees pervade the landscape with a special colour. They coexist in mountainsides with terraces of wide strip of land of limestone, it is trace of another age. Most of them, still preserve almond, olives and a hundred-year-old carob trees plantations. It is usual to find old farmhouses and outbuildings in ruins along with a small well or spring.

On the plain, the towns with wide streets and whitewashing facades are crowned by belfries and, around them, depending on the local agriculture, orange trees or vineyard growing.

The landscape of the Community is a great attraction for visitors and as an extra it boasts excellent local cuisine, represented by a huge number of dishes with local and rural tastes. They are cooked with fresh local food products together with those products that where introduced by the immigrants, those who settled in La Vall during the past. For example, the cold meat in Balearics style and couscous from the North of Africa.
