Senija

History

With the town's conquest in 1244 by Jaime I, it was given to Pedró Arlandis Cortés in 1258 as stated in the signed document in Montpellier. In 1687, it was Gaspar Bou of Peñarroya's manor. He was an equestrian knight of the Order of Montesa and San Jorge of Alfama. It was this knight who offered The Virgins image of the Desamparados, current patron saint of the municipality.
